Overcrowded emergency rooms (ER) create difficulties for nurses in providing health services. ER overcrowding affects the quality of care and safety of patients and nurses practicing in a chaotic area as they deal with multiple problems under difficult circumstances. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the experiences of Thai nurses in providing care for patients in overcrowded emergency room situations at tertiary hospitals in Bangkok. The philosophy underpinning this study employed a Heideggerian Phenomenology with twenty emergency nurses conveniently selected from five tertiary hospitals in Bangkok. In-depth interviews were conducted with audio recording. Content analysis described by Benner was used to analyze data. |
