Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) have been known as emerging contaminants that interfere with the product ion, release, transport, metabolism, binding, action, or elimination of the natural hormones in the body. The presence of EDCs (Octylphenol: OP, Nonylphenol: NP, Bisphenol A: BPA, and Estrone: E1) and their estrogenic activities in the Nan River were determined using chemical analysis and YES bioassay. The results indicated that OP, NP, BPA, and E1 were found with concentration up to 36.7, 1060, 1420, and 17.2 ng/L in surface water, 2.8, 97.3, 13.2, and 12.4 ng/g in sediment, and 812, 663000, 339, and 11700 ng/g in fish, respectively. An estrogenic risk of EDCs in the Nan River almost showed minimal to medium risks to aquatic organisms. |
