| คำอธิบาย | Adolescent mothers may lack confidence in their ability to breastfeed their infants. Adolescent mothers who have low breastfeeding self-efficacy may not have successful exclusive breastfeeding. The purpose of this quasi-experimental research was to examine the effect of self-efficacy enhancement on success in exclusive breastfeeding among adolescent mothers. The subjects consisted of 44 adolescent mothers admitted into the postpartum ward at Banpong Hospital in Ratchaburi from March to July 2016. They were selected using the inclusion criteria and equally divided into the control and experimental groups with twenty-two in each group, as a matched pair design. The research instruments consisted of 2 parts. Part I included the breastfeeding self-efficacy enhancement plan, video presenting symbolic model, breastfeeding flip chart, comic chat used instead of words, the book "Hai Look Kin Nom Kra Phong Nae Jai Reu” (Are you sure you want to give your baby formula milk), and a breastfeeding self-efficacy questionnaire. Part II included the exclusive breastfeeding questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Chi-square test. The findings of this study revealed that adolescent mothers in the experimental group had significantly higher exclusive breastfeeding rate than that of the control group (p < .001). The breastfeeding self-efficacy enhancement plan could increase exclusive breastfeeding rate among adolescent mothers. The findings of this study will be valuable for nursing practice, education, and research. |
