คำอธิบาย | Biomass burning is one of the main causes of the smoke crisis in the north of Thailand. This study found that the PM2.5 concentrations in the smoke episode were approximately 4-5 times significantly higher than those in the non-smoke episode. The PM2.5 concentrations showed a correlation with PAHs, levoglucosan and ions concentrations. Accordingly, the levoglucosan concentrations, used as the biomass burning tracers, were strongly correlated with potassium in the smoke episode. These results indicated that the increasing PM2.5 concentrations during the smoke episode were from biomass burning sources and the areas in the northern border of Thailand during the smoke episode could lead to an increased risk of cancer and mutation. |
