คำอธิบาย Children at risk of reading difficulties are affected by cognitive processing problems occurring in different brain regions. Such problems include word recognition, naming speed, verbal fluency, visual perception, and attention. The aims of this study were(1) to develop the “Multiple Identity-Categorization Tracking Task” (MICTT) training program, (2) to investigate the effects of the MICTT program on enhancing visual attention and naming speed, and (3) to investigate the impact of the MICTT program by measuring the electroencephalographic (EEG) marker during resting-state recording ,and to observe performance on a pursuit task administered before and after training in a sample of preschool-aged children having common development problems and judged at risk of reading difficulties. The experimental group underwent the 25-minute MICTT training daily for 20 days (eight hours in total). The children in the control group completed different activities in the classroom. The MICTT program was assessed and validated as suitable for children due to its game-like features (I-CVI =0.97). In comparison with the control group, the results revealed that the experimental group had greater visual attention and faster naming speed abilities in both the children with typical development issues and in those at risk of reading difficulties. The correlations between visual attention and naming speed after the MICTT training were obtained, exhibiting statistically significant differences during resting-state EEG in Frontal, Fronto-polar, Temporal and Broca’s regions. During the pursuit task, the eye movement of the children with typical development issues and those children at risk of reading difficulties appeared to be different. In conclusion, the MICTT training program would be beneficial for improving attention and language processing. Therefore, this study’s findings might be useful as regards remediation for children at risk of reading difficulties.
